How the CRS score is built
The Comprehensive Ranking System gives points in four parts: core human capital (age, education, language, Canadian work), spouse factors, skill transferability, and additional points such as a provincial nomination or strong French. The table shows the most you can get in each part.
| Section | Single | With spouse |
|---|---|---|
| Age | 110 | 100 |
| Education | 150 | 140 |
| First official language | 136 | 128 |
| Second official language | 24 | 22 |
| Canadian work experience (until Nov 2, 2026) | 80 | 70 |
| Labour market integration (from Nov 3, 2026) | 150 | 140 |
| Spouse factors | – | 40 |
| Skill transferability | 100 | 100 |
| Additional points | 600 | 600 |
Until November 2, 2026 the score tops out at 1,200. From November 3, the Canadian work line is replaced by a labour market integration factor worth up to 150 points (140 with a spouse). You get the higher of two options: Canadian work-experience points plus high-wage points, or points for a qualifying job offer in a high-wage occupation. The two are not added together.
What changes on November 3, 2026
- Candidates with at least 12 months of Canadian work in a high-wage occupation get 20, 40 or 70 extra points at 1.3, 1.5 or 2 times the median wage.
- A qualifying job offer in a high-wage occupation is worth 50, 70 or 100 points at the same wage levels, and no LMIA is needed for it.
- Job offers outside high-wage occupations still earn nothing. Skill transferability, spouse factors and additional points stay the same.

Ways people raise a CRS score
- Retake the language test. Going from CLB 8 to CLB 9 in all four abilities adds 32 core points for a single candidate and can unlock 50-point transferability combinations.
- Learn French. NCLC 7 in all four French abilities is worth up to 50 additional points, and French-proficiency draws in 2026 have had much lower cut-offs than Canadian Experience Class draws.
- Get your other credentials assessed. Two or more credentials, one of them three years or longer, score higher than a single bachelor's degree.
- Add Canadian experience. Each year up to five adds points, and two years unlocks the top transferability band.
- Look at provincial programs. A nomination through an Express Entry stream adds 600 points. Ontario's new stream has its own score: try the OINP points calculator. Québec runs its own program, scored with the PSTQ calculator.
FAQ
What is a good CRS score in 2026?
It depends on the draw. In the most recent rounds the cut-off was 519 for the Canadian Experience Class (October 15, 2026), 407 for French-language proficiency (October 27, 2026) and 761 for PNP candidates, whose total includes 600 nomination points. Does a job offer give CRS points?
Not right now. IRCC removed job-offer points on March 25, 2025. From November 3, 2026, a qualifying job offer in a high-wage occupation earns 50, 70 or 100 points, depending on whether the wage is at least 1.3, 1.5 or 2 times the median, and no LMIA is needed.
How many points is a provincial nomination worth?
A nomination through an Express Entry-aligned provincial or territorial stream adds 600 points. Additional points are capped at 600 in total, so a nomination alone fills that section.
How are French skills scored?
If you have NCLC 7 or higher in all four French abilities you get 25 additional points, or 50 if you also have CLB 5 or higher in all four English abilities. French can also count as your first or second official language.
Does having a spouse lower my CRS score?
An accompanying spouse lowers the maximum for age, education, language and Canadian work, but your spouse can add up to 40 points back. If your spouse is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or is not coming with you, you are scored as single.
Is this an official IRCC calculator?
No. CRS Meter is an independent tool and is not affiliated with IRCC. We follow the tables on canada.ca, but confirm your score with the official CRS tool and your Express Entry profile before you rely on it.
